First day of school for Fall ’24 at UNK today! Here are some media questions worth asking… Maybe.
- Where can I watch big events, like the Republican and Democratic political conventions, without interruption by commercials and commentators?
The national treasure that is C-SPAN of course. The public service network covers congress, government events, and events of public interest uninterrupted, all without government funds – paid for the cable and satellite TV industry. Really wish Hulu would be a sponsor and carry it.
- When you do something awful online, how do you properly apologize? Former MMA fighter Ronda Rousey shows us how it’s done. (Note, her apology did not contain the words, “If I offended anyone, I’m sorry for hurting their feelings…”)
- What is the greatest song from the musical Hamilton, and why is it One Last Time, aka Washington’s farewell address?
Here are Christopher Jackson and Lin Manuel Miranda performing this brilliant song from the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors.
How do you choose a best song, though I think you choice is a good one? I love Eliza’s song “Burn” which is so poignant or My Shot or…😊. Good question to ponder though. Have a great year!
I think that One Last Time illustrates Washington’s greatness in willingness to give up power voluntarily. And it is one of the best examples of how LMM takes historical documents and sets them into the show.
Of the more personal songs, I would say my feelings run toward Dear Theodosia, given all the feels it gives a father/grandfather. But Burn is brilliant. Have you ever heard the alternative version First Burn? It features several Elizas in it…
