- How many African-American writers does Hulu have working on their series?
Zero, none, zip, nada. (And just 4.8 percent of all TV writers are black.) Behind-the-camera diversity can be as important as in-front-of-the-camera. (Disney is one of the major owners of Hulu.) - Why won’t WaPo pop culture writer attend advance screenings of Disney movies?
Because Alyssa Rosenberg is standing in support of Los Angeles Times critics who have been banned from advance screenings because the paper has been critical of Disney’s money dealings with the the city of Anaheim. (As a side question: Why doesn’t she like the new MCU movie Thor: Ragnarok?) - Does it matter whether Thor: Ragnarok passes (or doesn’t pass) the Bechdel Test?
That is, does the film present a worthwhile image of women even if they don’t ever talk to one another? - How much does animation cost per second?
It can be a lot! Disney’s Frozen cost more than $49,000 per second, Wreck-It Ralph was a comparative bargain at about $25,000 per second, and the low-tech South Park comes in at $223 per second. (Please note that some of these films/shows are from different years, which will have some effect on prices.)
